Dedicated to Sri Chinmoy (1931-2007)

This is my personal blog on running, biking and hiking - and on the philosophy of Self-Transcendence.

The site takes its name from one of Sri Chinmoy's sayings: "Each step forward has a sacred meaning of its own".

My Latest News: After 15 years of running I won my first prize! First vet 40+ at the Tintern Trot, and I ran my legs to jelly on a tricky course to get that, so I'm well pleased! My goal for the coming year is to race 40 times at the age of 40 (ie. before June 5th 2009). Recovery from injury is on course, and with some 90-minute sprint triathlons under my belt I feel fit enough to have a crack at Olympic Distance Tri and Half Marathon this Autumn. Full marathon and ultra will have to wait a while, as the slow-but-steady build up has worked so well for me I'm not going to risk my knee all of a sudden by stepping up in distance quickly. Fortunately, the hills have not proved too tough for the dodgy leg so more fell races are on the cards.

Recently added items: a page on Sri Chinmoy and our local triathlon at Cosmeston, as well as some recent Fell Races. Haven't been anywhere exotic since Punta Cana, but a trip to Asia looks likely in early 2009.

I SAW IN THE SILENCE

Sri Chinmoy

In the desert-silence
I saw God the Warrior.
In the forest-silence
I saw God the Lover.
In the mountain-silence
I saw God the Dreamer.
In the ocean-silence
I saw God the Awakener.
In the sky-silence
I saw God the Liberator.
