1 Mile Race Nusa Dua, Bali, 2015

By now I was hoping to be closing in on the 6-minute mile after a long slog back from several running injuries.Sadly, this was not to be, as just 2 days before the trip to Bali at the end of January 2015 I pulled up mid-way through a brisk run home from the office with a strained calf. No idea where that came from, but I'm told it isn't serious and I should be racing again by the summer. Fingers crossed!

I managed to stay away from the races in Bali, worried that I might suddenly gamble with my recovery by taking part, but when the time came round for the last race of the trip I couldn't resist going along to just walk the 1 mile course and be a part of the amazing race atmosphere.

There was quite a crowd gathering in the hot, humid air of the early morning and it was a real effort to resist the urge to run - fortunately I did no more than a handful of 1-minute jog breaks as I completed one mile in 13.07. Here's hoping my next report of a race is actually - well - a report of a race! Others, of course, were in shape to race flat out and despite the heat there were some stellar times - here are some shots of the runners:
