Y GYRN
This broad spur of the Brecon Beacons masif looms above the A470 near Storey Arms (one of the most popular starting points for walks and climbs) so it gets a fair bit of "traffic". The path to the top is wide and easy to follow, beautifully soft underfoot, but peaty and boggy so you sink into it every so often. From Storey Arms, the climb is quick and easy - a quarter of an hour steady running on the soft track gets you to the summit - well, the "summit area" one should say as theres no distinguishing feature at the top. You get wonderful views of the taller neighbours Pen Y Fan and Corn Du, and of the Fforest Fawr mountains to the west. Then its a quick, easy, fast, soft, swampy return to the starting point.
