ALLT YR ESGAIR

Sorry about the rather hopeless picture (below) taken from my car. This mountain is wooded almost to the summit and because of the bridleway along its ridge is probably more popular with riders than walkers and runners. After steep ascents elsewhere earlier that day, I was glad to find a longer, gentler ascent along the ridge.

Bridleways are not that runner - friendly, being usually churned up and muddy, and this one was no exception - it begins at a farm shop near Bwlch and takes you all the way to the base of the hill where a tree-lined avenue opens out onto the open fellside.

From then on its easy climbing to the rocky summit.
